Best Dressed at the 2024 Oscars

The 2024 Oscars’ red carpet was not a disappointment at all this year. Full disclosure, I didn’t watch half of the films nominated this year, but I didn’t want to miss out on the classic phenomena of “who” was wearing “what”, so I decided to tune in. Little did I know, I was in for a treat as celebrities descended on the red carpet in what seemed like a planned theme of silvery blues, soft whites, and delicate baby pinks. Join me as I share some of my favorite red carpet outfit and style choices of the night.

Hailee Steinfeld looked absolutely stunning as she graced the red carpet in an Elie Saab couture gown. She was the perfect balance of elegance, modesty, and boldness. I particularly admired the specific shade of light-blue, the choice to not overwhelm the dress in embellishments, the flowiness of the silk, and the simplicity of her neck sash.
All I can say is Billie Eilish ate. We’re living in the times of the “office siren”, where corporate workplace outfits are trendier than casual going-out clothes. Billie’s outfit accomplishes this look mixed with a more mature “school girl” aesthetic. From the blow-out, to the makeup, or the tiny purse and heels – the singer’s outfit is very trendy and styled to grab the attention of 20 year olds who make playful, yet sophisticated outfit choices. More of this, please!
I audibly gasped when I saw Ariana Grande enter the red carpet. I loved this dress with every fiber in my being, and she pulled it off so effortlessly. It was soft, feminine, pillowy, and perfect. She looked dreamy. She really showcased to us that she’s in her feminine energy more now than ever.
America Ferrera looked nothing short of amazing in her form-fitting Versace gown. When I first saw her arrive, I thought this is the perfect example of styling based on your body shape. The dress accentuated her in the right places. The glam, the hair, and the jewelry really tied it all together as she gave us one last “Barbie” look.
Back-to-back pink is crazy, I know. But, Leah Lewis left a huge impression on the Oscars red carpet in this Lever Couture dress. It was whimsical and light, while also being fierce and impressionable. I also really liked the pointed heel. Very simple. I liked how there weren’t any accessories to take away from the essence of the dress. It’s a look that I’ll think about for years I fear.
The styling of Zendaya for this award show was EVERYTHING. She’s a celebrity that takes a lot of fashion risks, and tends to pull them off. Yet, something about her wearing this outfit and being styled with the hair and this makeup is timeless. It says movie star. This look won me over, tonight. Specifically, the hair and makeup. It’s giving “soft girl era” and looks very achievable.
